Alex Puccio in grande spolvero a Coal Creek con la salita di "Super Low Chimichanga Right" 8B+. Una probabile first ascent di questo prolungamento di "Chimichanga" (8B).

"Maybe FA!?? Adds a 4 move V8-9 into the V13. Chimichanga is really my style to a T so not too sure of the grade. The super low is definitely harder the shorter you are. You have to do more moves and get really spread out!
Good, double send day. Did this and Super Low Chimichanga Left. Both went really fast."

Anche la Svezia non pone restrizioni all'arrampicata outdoor. Matilda Soderlund riesce così a risolvere il suo primo 8B: "Armstrong Assis", a Nockeby, Vicino a Stoccolma.
Un problema con arcuate su cristalli che ha messo a dura prova la pelle delle sue dita.
Nella stessa area, alcuni giorni prima, Matilda aveva salito "Moonlander Assis" 8A+.

"Armstrong assis took me 9 sessions in total, I fell on the last move so many times I started doubting that I was capable of sending it haha - then, with taper up skin and splits on 4 fingers, it suddenly happened. So happy"

In Finlandia non sono state poste restrizioni per prevenzione Coronavirus nei riguardi dell'arrampicata su roccia. Anthony Gullsten ne approfitta per aprire "Silver Lining", una nuova linea di 8C situata nell'area di Piilolampi, a circa 45' da Helsinki.

"The past couple weeks I've put all my focus and efforts into this one particular line. It's been a notorious project since the place was first discovered 20 years ago.

A Bodio, in Ticino, nel mese di Febbraio, Dorothea Karalus è riuscita a risolvere "Santoku", il suo quinto 8B.

"The most complicated 3D Puzzle I ever did! It was such a fun process to figure out a method for me on 'Sanktoku' 8B (February 2020). This is something I never get tired of and is for me the most rewarding part of bouldering...when something slowly transitions from feeling impossible to maybe to doable...."

All'inizio dello scorso marzo, prima del lockdown, Paul Robinson era riuscito ad effettuare la seconda salita di "REM", passaggio aperto da Giuliano Cameroni a Cresciano.

A parte l'importanza del passaggio, valutato in apertura 8C+, a suscitare scalpore, con varie discussioni sul web, fu la scelta di Paul di valutarlo 8B+. Una nuova methode, utilizzando un appoggio di buone dimensioni, che però non era congeniale a Giuliano, a sottolineare e rammentare che spesso la morfologia e le caratteristiche di ogni arrampicatore possono rendere diverse le percezioni della difficoltà di un blocco.
Si evidenzia ancora una volta la relatività dei gradi, che pur essendo un riferimento 'importante', non potranno mai avere un valore assoluto.

Tra gli altri passaggi risolti da Paul troviamo anche "Momentum" 8B+ in Val Bavona (video).

Negli ultimi giorni di permanenza in Svizzera, prima del rientro negli USA, a causa del lockdown relativo al Coronavirus, Daniel Woods realizza la terza salita di "Off the Wagon Low", 8C+ aperto in Val Bavona da Shawn Raboutou e ripetuto finora solo da James Webb.

"One of the more exhilerating experiences I have had in bouldering. The power, precision, and accuracy needed to send is difficult to have align in unison. Each session I put 50/50 odds on myself if it would go down or not. This soon turned into a mental battle. I was pretty limit on the send, but somehow managed to maintain zone state and top it out. Top 3 power blocs in the world for me. Nice work shawn for establishing the blocs full line! "

Nella stessa area viene anche a capo di "Momentum" 8B+, "Primitivo" 8C e apre un nuovo passaggio di 8C: "4-Low".

Ancora una difficile linea nei primi giorni di marzo per Toni Lamprecht sotto il tetto di Kochel: "Angeschossens Wolf" è il nuovo 8C che percorre per 11 movimenti "Real Absurdistan" per uscire su "La Paloma".

"I thought long, if it is good to publish bouldering news now, because in the moment the world has bigger problems than solved boulders. But I decided that it could be an inspiration to those who can't climb in the moment, who fight in the health system to save lives, who pray for their relatives, work in the food industry or the markets. You are all our real hereos.
So here is a story about a small fight. Hopefully we can win the big fight, that is going on in the world right now and go out climbing when it is over:
On the 3rd of March I was able to climb the Boulder "Angeschossens Wolf" in sufficiently cold conditions. The boulder is identical to "Real Absurdistan" (8C) until move number 11, and then combines it with the "La Paloma"-exit (8A). To me it felt a little but harder than "Real Absurdistan" , but time will tell.

Hopefully the next bouldering days may come for us all and more important at least the next corona free days!"

Le disposizioni relative alla emergenza Coronavirus sono ancora attive in gran parte degli stati. E' quindi vietato praticare l'arrampicata in falesia e nelle aree boulder. Solo in alcune nazioni non sono stati imposte limitazioni per le attività su roccia.

Per il momento dovremo accontentarci di allenarci a casa, sperando che la situazione si sblocchi prima possibile...
